A wonderfully decorative set of six vintage silverplate knife rests, each designed with an exuberant Rococo-style shell surrounded by scrolling foliage and floral details.
Originally designed to keep a used knife elevated from the table between courses, knife rests are one of those old-school entertaining accessories that feel particularly charming today. This set comes from a bed and breakfast, where they were actually used at the table, a bit of hospitality history ready for its next dinner party.
Use them traditionally at individual place settings, or put them to work holding serving utensils on a buffet or bar. Their substantial dimensional design gives them wonderful presence on the table, while the silverplate adds just the right amount of old-world glamour.
Late 20th century.
In very good vintage condition with light surface wear and patina consistent with age and use.
Sold as a set of six.
