A spectacular piece of mid-century cocktail history. This oversized silverplate cocktail shaker was custom engraved to commemorate the first commencement of C.W. Post College in 1958, just a few years after the college was established on the former Long Island estate of Marjorie Merriweather Post.

Made by G. Balfour Co., the substantial shaker stands approximately 12.5 inches tall and holds an impressive 50 ounces , enough to batch cocktails for a crowd rather than shake them one or two at a time.

Its generous proportions, substantial handle and beautifully polished silverplate give it wonderful presence on a bar. The original custom engraving transforms an already fabulous large-format shaker into a genuine piece of New York educational history. While the identity of its original recipient is unknown, it was clearly created to mark a very specific milestone: C.W. Post's inaugural graduating class. And despite its history, this is not merely a display piece. Fill it with Martinis, Manhattans or another batched cocktail and put all 50 ounces back to work.
