Set of 12 Vintage Gold-Dipped Heraldic Cocktail Picks, c. 1950's-60's
A wonderfully unusual complete set of twelve vintage cocktail or hors d'oeuvre picks, dating to approximately the 1950's to 1960's. Substantial in the hand, each features a long twisted stem topped with one of six different double-sided heraldic motifs, with two of each design.
The motifs, including a rampant lion, fleur-de-lis, crown, ermine, and medieval hunting and martial imagery, evoke the royal and chivalric heraldry of Old World Europe. Finished in a warm gold tone, the picks are believed to be gold dipped, as represented when acquired, though the exact metal composition and finish have not been independently verified.
A distinctive mid-century entertaining set for cocktails, olives, citrus garnishes, cheeses or hors d'oeuvres...especially charming displayed alongside vintage barware.
