Antique Mother-of-Pearl Flatware with Sterling Collars, Set of 10
A beautiful late 19th-century collection of antique mother-of-pearl handled flatware, comprising five knives, four forks and one serving spoon.
Each piece features a luminous natural mother-of-pearl handle joined to the implement with a sterling silver collar. The forks have delicate engraved decoration, while the older knife blades have the soft gray finish and character that comes with more than a century of age.
Rather than a formal matched service, this is a wonderfully useful assortment for the modern table. Mix the knives and forks into a layered place setting, use the spoon for serving, or bring individual pieces out for cheese, fruit, desserts and small bites.
Circa 1890.
Antique condition with surface wear, patina and age-related marks throughout. The non-stainless knife blades show oxidation and discoloration consistent with their age and material. The mother-of-pearl handles remain beautiful, with the natural variation in color and iridescence characteristic of genuine shell.
Set of 10: five knives, four forks and one serving spoon.
