A piece of the golden age of Atlantic City hospitality. This substantial hotel silver teapot was made for the legendary Chalfonte-Haddon Hall in 1927, when Atlantic City's grand Boardwalk hotels were destinations unto themselves.

Built for demanding commercial hotel service, the teapot has marvelous weight and presence, with an architectural squared handle, sweeping spout, pedestal base and hinged conical lid. Nearly a century of service has left the silver surface with a beautifully textured patina while retaining a gorgeous shine, the evidence of a working life rather than precious storage.

The date is particularly special: 1927 was the year the Haddon Hall Ocean Tower was completed. That building still stands today as part of Resorts Casino Hotel, connecting this piece directly to a surviving landmark of Atlantic City's great hotel era.

The underside tells its story: CHALFONTE HADDON-HALL / 1927 / SOLD BY D.W. HABER N.Y. / SILVER SOLDERED / 1522, along with a wonderfully charming pineapple trademark.

Use it for tea or coffee today, fill it with flowers on a breakfast table or bar, or simply leave it out as a sculptural piece of American hospitality history.
