Vintage National Silver Co. “Queen Elizabeth” Silverplate Flatware – 18-Piece Service for 6, c. 1930s–1940s
A handsome 18-piece vintage American silverplate flatware service for six by National Silver Co. in the ornate Queen Elizabeth pattern, first introduced in 1908.
The set includes the three pieces most useful on a modern table: six dinner forks, six dinner knives and six teaspoons. It creates a complete basic service for six without the many specialized utensils found in larger period flatware services—beautiful vintage silver that can actually be put into regular rotation.
Queen Elizabeth is a richly ornamented traditional pattern with scrolling botanical and classical detailing along the handles. Introduced in 1908, the pattern has the decorative presence of formal antique silver while remaining remarkably versatile today. Pair it with traditional china and linens for a formal table, or mix it with simpler dishes and glassware for a more relaxed setting.
The forks and teaspoons are marked "National / DOUBLE TESTED / Silverplate." The matching dinner knives have silverplated hollow handles with stainless-steel blades marked "N.S.CO. / STAINLESS."
National Silver Co. was an American manufacturer of silverplated flatware and tableware during the 20th century. Its Queen Elizabeth silverplate pattern was introduced in 1908 and remained in production for decades before being discontinued. This particular set is believed to date to approximately the 1930s–1940s, based on its "National DOUBLE TESTED Silverplate" markings and the construction and markings of the matching stainless-steel-bladed knives. The 1908 date refers to the introduction of the Queen Elizabeth pattern.
A practical way to bring vintage American silverplate to the table: enough for six basic place settings, beautifully decorative without feeling too precious to use.
