Vintage Hand-Carved Wood Pillar Candlestick

A striking vintage hand-carved wooden candlestick, with wonderful scale and sculptural presence. Standing approximately 19 inches tall before the candle is added, the elongated architectural form features a fluted central column, deeply carved foliate details and a substantial faceted base, all finished in a rich, nearly ebonized dark brown.

Designed to hold a pillar candle, it is fabulous on a console, mantel or dining table and substantial enough to stand beautifully on the floor as part of a layered vignette. Equally handsome without a candle, it reads almost like a small piece of architectural sculpture.

The wood has a beautifully aged surface with variations, small marks and wear consistent with vintage hand-carved wood. It has been gently cleaned and lightly conditioned while retaining its original character and patina. Original Made in India label remains on the underside.
