Vintage 1968 Currier & Ives “American Autumn Fruits” Framed Print
A charming piece of mid-century Americana: Currier & Ives' lush American Autumn Fruits, reproduced for a 1968 Travelers Insurance calendar and preserved in an unusual hand-painted olive-green frame with delicate gold detailing.
Originally published by Currier & Ives in the 1870s, the exuberant still life depicts an abundant autumn harvest of grapes, peaches, plums, berries and a particularly fabulous slice of watermelon.
This 1968 reproduction gives the historic image another layer of vintage character, and at this petite scale, it's an easy piece of art to tuck into a kitchen, bar, gallery wall or bookshelf. The original calendar backing remains intact behind the framed image and identifies it as a Travelers Insurance calendar from December 1968.
The hand-painted frame shows lovely age-appropriate character and is fitted with a wire, ready to hang. Very good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear.
Frame: approx. 12¾" × 9¾", and the visible image is approx. 8½" × 11½".
