A substantial vintage solid brass table lamp by Stiffel, complete with its original ivory fabric shade.
Founded in Chicago in 1932, Stiffel became known for exceptionally well-made American lighting, particularly its weighty metal lamps and traditional forms. This large-scale example has the substantial construction and beautifully balanced proportions associated with the maker, with a warm solid-brass finish and classic urn-form body.
At approximately 32 inches tall, this is a generously scaled lamp with enough presence for a substantial side table, console, desk or bedside table. The original ivory fabric shade softens the brass beautifully and, importantly, preserves the proportions intended for the lamp, no hunting for the right replacement shade required.
Traditional without feeling overly formal, it works particularly well in a layered interior where polished brass, books, art and collected pieces are mixed rather than perfectly matched.
The lamp is in very good vintage condition and works properly. The brass retains age-appropriate character and patina, and the original ivory shade shows gentle wear consistent with its age. Please review photographs for condition and details.
