Large Vintage Chinese Blue & White Octagonal Porcelain Vase

A fabulous large-scale vintage Chinese blue and white porcelain vase with an unusual faceted octagonal form and wonderfully rich all-over decoration.

Alternating panels depict traditional mythical creatures, including qilin and phoenixes, surrounded by cobalt blue florals, scrolling motifs and geometric borders. The intricate decoration continues around all eight sides, while the broad shoulders, narrow waist and substantial proportions give the piece exceptional presence.

At approximately 12 inches tall and 10 inches at its widest, this is a wonderfully substantial piece of blue and white porcelain. Beautiful on a console or mantel, filled with branches or flowers, or simply displayed on its own.

Made in China in the late 20th century. The underside bears traditional workshop and reproduction marks associated with the historical style in which it was produced.

Excellent vintage condition with a glossy, beautifully preserved glaze. No chips, cracks or staining. The unglazed foot shows appropriate wear and discoloration from age and use.

Approx. 12" H × 10" W.
