Flexner – Vintage 1956 Entertaining Cookbook
A wonderfully evocative midcentury guide to entertaining, Cocktail-Supper Cookbook by Marion W. Flexner captures the art of the informal but well-planned cocktail supper: drinks, food and friends gathered together without the formality of a traditional dinner party.

Originally published in 1955, this copy is the second printing, January 1956, published in New York by M. Barrows and Company. Its charming dedication sets the tone for the entire book: "For Barbara and John to help them entertain with ease—and pleasure."

More than seventy years later, that philosophy feels remarkably current. The book offers a glimpse into midcentury American entertaining while remaining a useful source of inspiration for anyone who believes cocktails and something delicious to eat can constitute an occasion all their own.

The original hardcover binding features a yellow cloth spine with black lettering and textured blue-gray boards—a handsome, understated combination that displays beautifully among cookbooks, on a bar shelf or in a stack of vintage entertaining books.

Author: Marion W.
