Antique Allertons Ltd "Willow Blue" Earthenware Water Jug, English

A beautiful and unusually substantial antique English water pitcher by Allertons Ltd., made in Staffordshire circa 1929–1942. The classic Willow Blue transferware pattern wraps around the generous rounded form, depicting the familiar Chinoiserie landscape of pagodas, birds, bridges and figures in rich cobalt blue. At approximately 1.5 liters, this is a wonderfully useful large-format example. Bring it straight to the table for water or batch cocktails, or fill it with flowers and leave it out between gatherings. The scale and graphic blue-and-white pattern also make it striking simply displayed on a shelf or bar. Clearly antique, but beautifully preserved and entirely usable today. Excellent antique condition, with lovely age-appropriate character to the glaze and a clear Allertons maker's mark on the base.
